The VAV Gallery is currently seeking 1 Fine Arts Undergraduate Student to fill the position of Programming Coordinator,  for the rest of the 2024-2025 academic year. 

This is a unique opportunity for students to gain skills that are necessary for self-managed careers in the arts and for anyone interested in arts administration. These positions involve artistic programming, event planning, gallery promotion, research, accounting, space management, and many other activities that sustain the gallery.

The VAV Gallery is excited to accept submissions in different forms such as written and visual research, sound art, audio-visual explorations, poetry, performances, project proposals, group shows with themes as well as any form of in-progress or completed work. The VAV Gallery seeks varied proposals in order to constitute a fall programming representative of the diversity of current visual arts practices and is happy to discuss new ideas.

Are you a passionate art history student looking to gain valuable curatorial experience? Join our team and facilitate thought-provoking discussions around contemporary art exhibitions at the VAV Gallery.

As a facilitator, you'll have the unique opportunity to:

  • Interview artists

  • Develop insightful questions to spark engaging conversations

  • Contribute to the intellectual discourse surrounding contemporary art

Requirements:

  • Enrollment in Concordia's Art History program

  • Strong communication and research skills

  • Availability to commit approximately 5 hours/week for two weeks leading up to and following the event

Serving on the jury offers a unique opportunity to influence exhibition selections, contribute to programming decisions, and gain valuable insights into the application process—beneficial for artists aiming to understand the intricacies of exhibition curation.
