Final Address - Jega Delisca

Dear Members of the VAV Gallery Community,

It has been an honour and a privilege to serve as your Program Coordinator at the VAV Gallery. For the past ten years, I have dedicated myself to arts programming and community building, pillars that are deeply ingrained in who I am. During my short time here, we’ve embraced a community-first, artist-first approach, achieving incredible things together.

It is with mixed emotions that I announce my decision to step down as Program Coordinator. An exciting opportunity has arisen that aligns closely with my own artistic practice, and I feel compelled to pursue it fully. This decision was not an easy one, but I believe it is the right step for both my personal growth and the future of the gallery.

I leave with immense gratitude for the experiences we’ve shared and the milestones we’ve achieved. From championing the Artist Talk program with Emmy Voges to starting our volunteer gallery attendants program, and working closely with talented artists and peers, it’s been a fulfilling journey. I’m particularly proud of our upcoming solo show, a testament to the incredible teamwork and creativity that defines our gallery.

I’m also incredibly proud of the external partnerships we’ve established this year, such as with Ada X. These collaborations have expanded our reach and impact, and there are even more exciting plans in place for the future. While I may be stepping back from my role, I want you to know that I will continue to support the VAV Gallery as a viewer, a voting member, and a Fine Arts student at Concordia, albeit in a smaller capacity.

Rest assured, I leave you in the capable hands of our talented Admin and Technical Coordinators, who bring years of experience and dedication. Together, we’ve secured new grants, built a strong volunteer team, and established a solid foundation for continued success. The incoming Program Coordinator will undoubtedly bring fresh ideas and energy to this role, ensuring the VAV Gallery continues to thrive.

To my colleagues, collaborators, and the artists I’ve had the privilege to work with—thank you. Thank you for your passion, patience, and trust in me. It’s been a joy to witness and support your artistic journeys, and I look forward to seeing all the incredible work that lies ahead.

As I step into this new chapter, I do so with fond memories, deep gratitude, and great optimism for the VAV Gallery’s future. I will always cherish my time here and am excited to continue being part of this vibrant community.

Thank you for everything.

Warm regards,

Jega Delisca
